Lighting Basics
Five Tuesdays, July 8th through August 5th
6:30-9:30pm
$225
This in-depth beginning lighting class will kick start your skills and help you build confidence with basic lighting tools and practice. You'll get ample hands-on time with a variety of lighting equipment in both studio and location situations while you experiment and create new work.
Instructive demos, creative problem solving, and a focus on pre-visualizing lighting scenarios will give you a solid foundation on which to develop and refine your lighting skills. This class is one of the recommended prerequisites for the intermediate lighting classes. Students should bring cameras and may shoot with film or digitally.
The class will be taught by Michael Henley. Michael has been a working professional photographer in Portland, Oregon for 30 years in both the portrait and commercial areas of photography and has been a photography instructor for the past 20 years. He has taught at Portland State University and Mt. Hood Community College. Michael has also conducted workshops for professional organizations such as Professional Photographers of America and Portland Metropolitan Photographers Association. He also conducts workshops and tours to the Southwest.
