In this step-by-step class, you'll learn to successfully digitize your color or black and white negatives, transparencies, prints, and even three dimensional objects. Digital pro Pete Gomena will introduce you to the scanning software SilverFast, a program that is much more adaptable than Epson's proprietary software.
You'll learn all about how to size your files correctly for making prints and how to get optimal colors and tones out of your scans as you work with your own materials. You'll also learn to use Photoshop to adjust and perfect your scans. You'll leave class with a few well-scanned images on disk and ready to print. Students should bring negatives, prints, slides, and/or objects to scan.
Required prerequisite: Basic Photoshop or instructor's consent.
This class will be taught by Portland photographer Pete Gomena. Pete has worked as a photojournalist, commercial photographer, studio manager, and digital imaging technician. He helped build the Oregon Historical Society's 25,000-image digital archive, and has practiced creative photography for more than 30 years.
