We live in a city filled with striking architectural forms - from our stunning bridges to our lovely downtown. It can be a challenge, however, to work with interacting lines and large spaces successfully. In this day-long workshop, you'll learn the ropes from a pro as you explore the beautiful city we live in with your camera. You'll learn how to photograph architecture in a way that best conveys the convergence of line, shape, and form. And, youÕll learn to use lighting and weather to your advantage to create striking architectural images.
The class will be taught by Portland photographer Jeff Shay. Jeff is a fine artist and freelance photographer with 30 years of experience. His commercial photography specialization is in product and 3D artwork. Jeff's freelance photography clients include sculptors, ceramic and glass artists, and jewelry designers, as well as painters and printmakers. His previous experience includes staff photography at Fred Meyer Photogroup, work with Condit Studios, and Art direction for Rejuvenation, Inc. Jeff has a BFA with Distinction in Photography/Fine Art from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA. His fine art has been shown internationally for more than 20 years, and is represented in the collections of the Gilkey Center for Graphic Arts at the Portland Art Museum and Fourth Inkling Studio Portfolio. Jeff's work was also featured in the 1996 View Camera article, "Photogravure: Paradise Earned."
